The excellent cuisine of Umbria is an art and a tradition based on quality and genuineness of simple produce with strong flavors: from vintage wines to valuable truffles, typical cheeses and salami to extra virgin olive oils.
Among walks for truffles searching, visits to oil mills, wine-tasting and dinners based on typical products. Villa Milani is the ideal place for those who want to combine the warm atmosphere of a charming hotel with the discovery of the gastronomic secrets, of one of the most beautiful Regions of Italy.

General Information

These itineraries are based on:

• Minimum 2 and maximum 6 persons
• Presence of one or more professional language guides (Italian and English)
• Duration all day. Departure from the Villa not before 9.00 am and return not later than 6.00 pm according to the distances)
• Transport with comfortable, air-conditioned minibus
• Tickets for entry to museums and visits to the main monuments
• Tasting of the local produce
• The Lunch is not included. The guides will suggest a typical restaurant in the area visited and will accompany the guests there if requested

 
Programs

The Black Truffle Trail
The truffle itinerary is a trail that let one know the gastronomic prince of Umbrian culinary tradition: the Black Truffle of Norcia. The excursion proposes an interesting truffle hunt, with an expert ”cavatore”-truffle finder) and his faithful dogs. The experience will give the guest the knowledge of the specific areas where truffles grow, up to the final “harvest” made by trained dogs. On request, the morning may be supplemented with a typical lunch at a renowned Farm, tasting the precious tubers just harvested.
 
The Wine Trail
The wine aims to discover the Umbrian wine-growing and production in the towns of Bevagna and Montefalco.
A guide will show you the town chosen (to be specified on reservation), proposing typical wineries where you can have a particular wine tasting featuring four of the typical red wines produced locally (Merlot, Rosso di Montefalco, Sagrantino and Sagrantino Passito).
The tour can be done all year round. During the grape harvest September-October), it is possible to observe the various phases of wine production
 
The Olive Oil Trail
The Olive Oil Trail aims to show olive oil production in Umbria, particularly in the towns of Spello and Trevi. Upon request, the tour can include also a visit to other towns, such as Assisi, Bevagna and Torgiano. An interesting nineteenth century mill in Poreta (between Trevi and Spello) gives you the opportunity of particular lunches and dinners.
A guide will show you the chosen town (to be specified on reservation), suggesting typical places where you can participate in a particular oil tasting. Short visit to the St.Emilian olive-tree (1,700 years-old) close to Trevi.
Period of the tour: this experience is possible all year round for tastings. During the olive harvesting (October-November), it is possible to visit the mill and observe the various phases of the olive oil production.
